My first trip out of the city this autumn. (There was a ride to a forest inside the city earlier, as well).
I believe there will come a year when I have my 8th, 9th or 10th autumn hike away from the city by this time. I used to have a lot of them, once. It may be next year.
Today, the bus 101 was not as crowded as it usually is in the gardening season, yet not quite empty. They have new buses! The old buses had so much soil inside them, one could plant potatoes on the seats. Anyway, I waited for a long time before adding myself to the passengers. I needed that trip away from the people one can meet in the city forests and parks. Had a great day walking and running, even enjoyed getting fingers half-frozen again. (The only thing that helps is running and moving the arms really intensely at the same time).
It was so wonderful to see the darkness falling so quickly as I got on a bus afterwards. Also, it started snowing, and there is a night of winter after the short day of late autumn.
(In case you wish to say this is beautiful, well, you don't need to write that. This day is a little bit sad and calmly joyful. The story is about being both upset and hopeful. About being dutiful or negligent. About indulgence and restraint. I do not close the comments, as there is some hope of hearing something beyond 'how nice').( Collapse )
